Some pain doesn’t stay in the past. Whether from trauma, grief, abuse, betrayal, or overwhelming life events, certain experiences can leave deep emotional marks that continue to affect our thoughts, behaviors, and relationships long after the moment has passed.
At The Counselor Therapy, I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy—an evidence-based, brain-body approach that helps people heal from the emotional distress associated with difficult or traumatic memories. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR works by accessing the brain’s natural ability to reprocess and release distressing material—without reliving it.
If you’ve ever said:
-
“I know it’s over, but it still feels fresh.”
-
“I thought I was past this, but I keep reacting the same way.”
-
“I don’t understand why this still affects me.”
EMDR may be right for you.
Through gentle and guided bilateral stimulation (typically through eye movements, tapping, or sound), EMDR helps unlock the nervous system and process painful memories that may be “stuck.” This allows you to experience relief from the emotional intensity, shift your perspective, and move forward with more clarity, peace, and resilience.
EMDR is highly effective for:
-
Trauma and PTSD
-
Anxiety and panic
-
Grief and loss
-
Childhood wounds
-
Emotional abuse or neglect
-
Negative self-beliefs and shame
In my practice, I offer EMDR in a supportive and grounded way. Sessions are paced according to your readiness, and we always begin with tools for safety and stabilization. For clients who are open to integrating their faith, I also offer Catholic-based EMDR, inviting God into the healing process through prayer, spiritual reflection, and trust in His restoring power.
You don’t have to stay stuck in survival mode. Healing is possible—and EMDR can help you get there.
